Updates and Color of the Week

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

I've got the Color of the Week items on the new site now. Until the new site is finished and the old site is "retired", there will be 2 different colors each week. The new site features "Woodland Green" this week.

DMC range of this color is about 502 in linen, 503 in lugana and jazlyn, and in aida, jobelan and jubilee it has a touch more of a blue hint. There's not a great comparison, but if you can imagine a color between 3849 and 597, that would be about the closest available.

I may change the format of the Color of the Week ordering in the future - I haven't decided for sure yet. I could make it all one product, similar to the old site, where you choose your fabric type and size. It's a little easier to order that way, but then there would only be one image available instead of all of the different fabric types. I would love to hear your thoughts! What would you prefer?

I added a few new solos today.

Last weekend, I dyed a 9x13 of 6 different fabric types of 27 colors. I'll be scanning and DMCing them when time permits. They are all Classics colors (fabric types are linen, lugana, aida, jazlyn, jobelan and jubilee).

I would like to get some links to stitcher's blog where they show off their needlework. If you would like yours included, please let me know.

Just an FYI, I'll be out of town Thursday and Friday (yep, more doctor appointments for Corey), so you won't see anything new going on those days.

If you have thoughts about what you would like to see on the new site, please let me know!

Tracy

Hello stitchers!

I've created this blog as a way to keep you informed of daily (or almost daily) updates of our new, improved website (www.silkweaverfabric.com) and other happenings and ramblings here at Silkweaver.

Sometimes my mind is going in overdrive with new ideas for colors and specials, and now is one of those times. I am so excited about the new features our new site will allow. Many of these things are features we've been asked for for years, such as Wish List and especially... DMC numbers for every color! Yes, I'm taking the plunge and attempting to get a DMC equivalent for every single color in all the different fabric types. Of course, this is going to take quite a while, but it's going to be great when finished.

I'll also be asking your opinions about more new features and other fun stuff, so visit frequently so that you can have your say!

On with the website progress....
So far, I have most of the categories set up and of course the shopping cart is completely functional. The Wish List is working like a charm also!

The gift certificates system is great! You can order them online and have a code to use immediately. That way, you no longer have to wait for me to manually email them! When a GC is redeemed, the system will automatically determine if you used all of your GC or not. If you have a balance remaining, it will stay available until it is used.

I'll cover more features in future posts. :)

New scans! This weekend I have been working on new scans for about 24 of the Classics colors. You will notice that there will be more consistency regarding fabric type. For example, Rocky Mountain has only been a linen color previously, but now you will see it available in all fabric types (and each will have a scan and DMC)! All of the colors will also be available in Reflections as well!

OK, I'm back to dying fabric now..........

Until next time, Happy Stitching!

Tracy
